Does the job - when working / not falling apart
I bought this item in May 2020. The assembly is not easy but ultimately I had it set up properly within about 90 minutes. After a few weeks the pedal came off during use. During my subsequent inspection I realise the thread that was meant to be hold it in place had become worn and damaged. After a mixed customer service experience (non-existent responses to emails, inconsistent messaging from staff, poor / no updates, but generally very helpful staff when I did get to speak to them), a replacement was sent to me, with my original purchase being collected - all for free and within about three weeks. Not ideal having to assemble it again from scratch of course.I used the replacement for about seven months without issue. Earlier this year it began to make some decidedly unhealthy noises - the occasional loud bang and what I can only describe as sporadic clunking. On two occasions parts of what appear to be the chain have fallen off. I have pictures and videos for those who are interested. My customer service experience in respect of this subsequent set of issues has been much worse. My phone calls have not been answered once. At the time of writing I have been waiting over a month for a response to an email I have sent them outlining the problems. I've had enough, hence this review. For readers in the distant future, please note that this has all unfolded during the COVID-19 pandemic, should that somehow be relevant to the poor customer service experience - we are over a year into the crisis so I'm not sure how it's justifiably an excuse at this point.Frankly, less than a year after my initial purchase, it feels like it's only a matter of time before this replacement is ready for the scrapheap. I am not an engineer but equally I wasn't born yesterday - when something sounds this unhealthy and it starts falling apart, it's not sustainable. Some may read this and attribute the issues to my poor assembly and / or maintenance. I can assure you that this is not the problem. I have followed the instructions in both respects exactly in relation to both assembly and maintenance. On the second occasion of assembly, I sought the assistance of an engineer I know to ensure I was assembling it correctly. He confirmed that I was. Incidentally, one of the customer service representatives I spoke to in relation to the first item confirmed the pedal issues was a known problem. You may read this and wonder why I've given this item anything more than one star. This is quite simply because when it actually functions / isn't falling apart, it does do the job. I've found it a good way of staying in shape while the gyms have been closed and it's a been a good way of getting my aerobic exercise in without suffering the impact associated with running (I have back problems, hence this purchase). I can't discount that it has done what I had hoped. It's a bit counter-intuitive and difficult at first, but like most things in life it gets easier with time.Overall though I cannot recommend this product. In fact I would positively discourage any would-be purchasers, particularly as some of my issues are reflected in accounts from other reviewers. I have little experience of home gym equipment but this feels like a shoddy piece of equipment which is not worth the money. When my replacement item eventually gives up on me, I will be looking to replace it with something else from another manufacturer (albeit I will most likely still seek to exercise my consumer rights in relation to this item!).

Great compact machine.
This machine was extremely easy to put together and is perfect for this temporary lockdown. It's a very small unit which can be carried under one arm when the handlebars are removed and stored easily. It's very sturdy and quite tough, I'm 6'3" and it suits me well. The pedals can be tough to get moving and I understand that concern for some, there is a large dead zone at the top of the rotation so it's difficult to put your weight down on it to get it moving. You can backpedal a bit to get round this. As for reliability, it just needs the chains tightened every so often as regular maintenance, a clunking noise will be the warning, this process is extremely easy; a simple turn of an allen key. I see another comment where they ignored this noise and destroyed the machine. This is a solid, nice looking compact machine that will hammer you out a great workout.

Hardly used and has broken
Bought this product for partner who used it a handful of times (due to work shift patterns) between July 2020 and December 2020. Machine not used at all December 2020 to March 2021 due to ankle injury. Machine used twice for two very short exercise sessions in March 2021 and chain broke. Seller advised no spare parts for machine. Offered a replacement which was rejected as loss of confidence that a replacement machine will last any longer. These machines are not cheap and should not break when the machine has hardly been used at all.Seller subsequently agreed to collect faulty machine and provide a refund. Machine collected but despite seller confirming in writing several times refund processed this has still not been received. A very unsatisfied customer.

Design concerns and no parts available
As with other disappointing reviews we have seen since we purchased this machine - which wasn’t inexpensive - we found it wasn’t easy for a woman or smaller person to use.We purchased ours in Jan 21. The left chain snapped about 10/11 months after use (which wasn’t heavy use). No parts replacement available. Took quite a while and emails and photos/videos sent before a new machine was provided and original one collected.Same chain on second machine snapped again after about 9 months. Again, not after heavy use. We decided we hadn’t the energy or will to have another machine, having lost all confidence in it and not wishing to go through all rigmarole of seeking reimbursement. We dismantled the machine and took it to the local civic amenity site and purchased a far cheaper, easier to use and well-designed indoor exercise bike.

Harder than similar machines at the gym
I bought this as I needed something challenging to use during the coronavirus. I am a reasonably fit person for my age and have trained for many years. I could not believe how difficult it was when I first used it. It is only after two months that I have managed to get to the second level and am now considering interval training. It's hard to get moving initially and you can only adjust the resistance while actually pedaling. My husband loves it as it's very cardiovascular. The good thing is that I truly believe it is burning more calories as it gets your heart rate up very quickly. Also, you can do quite a lot in seven minutes!

Expensive but a fantastic piece of kit.
The Orbitrek x17 is easy to put together providing you have someone to hold the handle bar post in position whilst you connect the wires either end. the multi path is fantastic and really gives you a good workout. Money well spent in my opinion.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
