Great Connectors
I've used Pomona plugs and connectors for the majority of my electronics career (50+ years). I have used them in military, civilian, and aerospace technology.A bit pricey, but they are will last a life time.

A nice easy to use solderless banana plug
I was installing the surround-sound 7.1 speakers in our new home theater set-up and these banana plugs were just the ticket for connecting and organizing the multiple hook-ups to the back of the A/V Receiver. This review is not for the experienced sound system hooker-upper but, rather, for the amateur sound enthusiast who has spent a life-time taking bare speaker wire ends, looping them around some connecting post, then tightening finger-tight screws onto your connecting-post-bent-wire connection. *This* is better. How does it work? You'll notice the plug looks like a miniature gun - there is a tiny screw inside the "barrel" to the left in the photo. You'll need a mini-screwdriver to loosen that screw. That allows you to insert the bare wire end of your speaker wire into the opening at the bottom - in the "grip" of the mini-pistol configuration. Then tighten the previously loosened screw. That's it! Plug it into the appropriate connection on your amplifier. It's a nice "solderless" solution.

Ingenious Variation on a Banana Plug
It took me a while to figure out the Pomona 1825-0 Banana PLUG with SAFETY COLLAR. Honestly, I had never seen a Banana Plug quite like it. At first I thought that the strange looking plastic piece sticking out from the side was a safe way to hold the plug when electricity is flowing through it. I also assumed that a crimp tool was needed to crimp the solderless wire in place. Wrong and wrong! The wire goes into the side piece, not the top as is typically the case with Banana Plugs. Instead, there is a small flat head slotted screw in the top. Once the wire has been inserted, a small screwdriver is used to tighten the screw. No soldering is required and removal of the wire is easy. This arrangement firmly holds the wire in place. It is actually more functional in many cases to have the wire coming out of the side instead of the top of the Banana Plug. How very ingenious of Pomona!I suspect that the ten Pomona 1825-0 Banana PLUG with SAFETY COLLAR will see a great deal of service in my workshop. Now I'll need to find and order another ten pack in red so that I will have matching color-coded Banana Plugs for my D.C. and audio projects.

Excellent way to quickly connect wiring to a banana plug without soldering
Like others, I was initially confused when I opened this package. I thought that the sleeve would unscrew from the metal to allow connection of wiring by soldering the wire in place, but quickly saw that wasn't the case. Then I noticed that one could plug one banana plug into another, but that wouldn't be likely to help make connections. Then (finally) I read some of the other reviews. Ohhhhh....ok, push a wire into the side opening and screw it into place using the small slotted screw that can be reached through the top opening. Brilliant, if perhaps a wee bit non-intuitive. The process works well, and is especially useful for stereo speaker connections. Don't forget to get a bag of red connectors as well to make your overall connectivity process easier to color-code.

a better banana
If you have any electronics experience, you're familiar with banana plugs. (Their name derives from their wider-at-the-center shape.) The springy metal provides a moderately firm fit, and also makes the plug self-wiping.This one is unusual, because the positions of the wire and set screw are reversed. The wire goes in at the side, the screw is at the rear. The collar provides strain relief and a finger hold when inserting or removing the plug. Most importantly, it keeps your fingers or another conductor from coming into contact with any voltage the wire is carrying. It takes up to 18ga wire, so it should work with other-than-esoteric speaker cables.I got these to use with some of my amplifiers. They work fine, much easier to plug and unplug. My only quibble is that, though well-made, they're rather pricey.

easiest way to attach banana plugs to speaker wire!
This is a great way to quickly add banana ends to speaker wire. The solderless design just needs a small screwdriver to attach the wire so there's no crimping and they are completely reusable. The only thing that would make these better is if there was a 5 red/5 black mixed pack since I think most people would want both colors. That being said, these work fine using two black as long as you can tell the wires apart.

Clever design, nice...
Mechanicaly fasten wire to banana plug, and you no longer have to deal with dangling wires when u remove the plug from your speaker or stereo unit...Its a very novel approach to adding plugs, where u currently use live wire... I much prefer plugs, better connection if done right, and you can easily and quickly remove plug and re install, seems we do that more than we want to, always re arranging cables, etc...

Easy and secure - wire goes in side
These Pomona plugs are easy to use, and more secure (wire stays in) than many other banana plugs. Wires come out at a right angle, not straight to the rear. Wire held firmly with a little screw.
