Great price, data a bit pricey, if local sims cards can be used, a great deal.
I just received this, so I will add more later about connectivity in other places, I am in the US. So far: super easy to get started, up and running in a few minutes. The device comes preloaded with 1100 gb of data. The speeds here in the US are okay, I got a ping of 45, upload of 2.85 and download of 7.76. Moving around to test other areas, the upload was up to 4, and the download up to 10, so it helps to move around to find a quicker spot. Most data seems to cost about $9/GB around the world, in China a bit cheaper at $4/GB. I teach on line, so need to have fast speeds, so this speed is marginal, so I would only use this as backup. It is an affordable backup, so I am happy with this purchase. Also, very convenient to use it anywhere in the world, which is great for traveling. When I can figure out how to put a local sim card in, I will check back in to tell you how that works. Overall, 4 stars.

Great device, horrible app
I really enjoy the U2S and while I haven't used the cloud base sim service, I have used a physical sim. What currently keeps this from five stars is the app is useless if you are using a physical sim. You can't manage the device, you can't adjust apn settings for the physical sim, you can't change wifi name or password, you can't reset your device without physically resetting your device...nothing. You have to use the 192.168.43.1 to manage the device. If you can't adjust apn settings through that you need an unlocked device first. I fortunately have an unlocked cell phone which I use to activate the SIM cards I get abroad. You would believe you can use the app to do that but the app doesn't even detect the device when it is connected which sort of kind of make registration for the app useless or I even say using the cloud based sim on the device impossible, unless you web base register on a different connected device first. It is a great device if you have an unlocked phone, a physical sim, but want to share a connection with others. Horrible if you need to use their service.

Works well in the US
I bought this to use on overseas trips and haven't yet had a chance to test it other than in the US. It came with 1 GB international data (good for 1 year) and as soon as I registered the device the data plan initiated and I was connected to LTE service in the US. Rather than 'waste' my international data for local use, I then inserted a Red Pocket data only sim in the device. It is now running nicely on a low cost Red Pocket plan. The real test will be next spring when we travel to Central America. So far I am very pleased.

A Huge Disappointment
In short, avoid this product. That is the bottom line. However, if you want more in depth information, here it is. My use case is that I was taking a 5 week vacation in the Western US. I needed to keep up with emails and client meeting requests as well as do some development work. Here was my actual experience:1. Data rates are very expensive, even for North America.2. They advertise full coverage in the United States, but that is far, far, far from the case. As I am writing this in a fairly populated area of Colorado, the device is reporting "Connected, No Internet". It just sits at 20% connected.3. When it did connect, the speed was far less than the "up to 150 mbps" advertised. Most of the time it was closer to 150 kbps, which is about a 2G data speed. Gmail does not handle that speed well. In cities, I did get between 2 and 5 mbps, but that is still pretty slow in this day and age.4. The mobile app has little to no functionality. You have to log into the device itself to see anything that is going on with the device.I will edit this review with the company's feedback when I contact them about these issues, but for now I would say to look elsewhere for services of this type.

It's not worth it you will be better purchasing unlimited data from a mobile company
This product sucks its $100 dollars you have to purchase data separate from the actual device. Because there is no monthly unlimited data plan your stuck having to purchase data by the gig so far I have had for 4 days and purchased 4 gigs at $50 and then it still ran out after 10 hours...this really do suck.

Easy to use and pretty simple.
Tested this out of the box when It arrived in the mail. Easy to power up and get the app installed on my phone. I was able to stream you tube with this in my home. I’m taking it on an extended trip to SE Asia in a week...I’ll report my findings after my trip.

Every world traveler need this device
Awesome device. Works as promised. Love the simplicity of the app. Just be mindful of background usage of apps. Burned through my 1 GB in a matter of days. After figuring that out its been going well. Two continents and three countries later… All is well.

Overpriced data...no customer support
Very disappointed. Data rates far exceeded those on the same device branded by another company. Customer support non-existent. The ‘global free 1GB’ the device came with is not able to be used in the country I’m in...so much for ‘Global.’ Unfortunately I’m overseas for a while and cannot return. Have to eat the cost of the unit. Will never purchase from company again.

Confirm with uCloudlink if your Glocalme has the latest firmware before visiting the United States.
Having caught the travel bug later in life, I wanted to see the world wherever life takes me and I also wanted to be connected. I am with Bell Canada and while they offer a Roam At Home plan that uses my large data plan, the price per day kept going up and up and it seemed that by Nov 2019 of this year, they'll cap the high speed data to 500mb/day and then slow speed afterwards. Which means, I'll be paying a lot while travelling. So I went around looking for an alternative and found Glocalme to be an affordable solution for my daily connectivity wherever I am. So I bought the U2s model (single sim slot) and I'm quite happy with it. It has the latest firmware to circumvent SkyRoam's patent, which uCloudlink lost to in the patent infringement. Suffice to say, I tested the Glocalme device on the Hawaiian cruise (Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Big Island Hilo) and the U2s worked in all these locations. Obviously, Glocalme doesn't work in the ocean, so you need to wait till you are close to land to get some form of connection. Speed wise is dependent on location and providers. Sometimes I get 4G LTE and is as fast as Bell's LTE, but mostly I get 4G HSPA+ and in Maui around IAO valley, I get like 3G or 2G speeds. Not sure whether it's a reception problem or what? Anyhow, the plans are reasonably priced from a Canadian perspective. The other closer competitor is Roam Mobility, but their prices and data are a bit on the high side. I could probably get a T-Mobile data plan SIM, but the ease of pay through the Glocalme site probably won't tempt me to fill in that empty slot for short hop days in the USA. I'll be leaving for Europe and I am looking forward to some great connectivity there. It does take roughly 10 mins or so to get connected every time you turn it on the first time in a new country and then less if you stay in the same country. You can see the status of the connectivity through the web portal which I had set up with my iPhone. You also need to download the Glocalme app to load your data package. The initial data package that came with this hotspot is a global 1Gb of data for 365 days. The package activates as soon as you turn on the device, so if you plan to travel at a later date, but don't turn it on until a few days before you go just to make sure the device works. Overall, the battery life is pretty much as advertised, but antenna coverage can be lacking for the U2s model, but I found acceptable for the size and portability it had to achieve. One of the device's weakness is the limited bands and frequencies it supports, so that limits the 4G LTE connectivity that you might get with your local Canadian telecom provider and a Canadian smartphone. I figure that I use my Bell roam at home service as a fail safe backup to my Glocalme if and when I'm getting poor or no service at all with Glocalme outside of Canada. In Canada, I'll use my Bell's iPhone as it is faster than Glocalme.

Nice little device that works
Bought this for my family travel to Japan and China. Ran out of the 1gb it came with on the 3rd day. Not the device's fault as 4 people are on it. Glad I got this as I considered using my phone and got local sim and turn on wifi hotspot. That would have drained my phone's battery very quickly, with the hassle of switching sim. It's a little bigger than a credit card, kind of like having a small flip phone. Consideration for those who want to travel super light.Got the additional Japan and China data packages on their website. It was straight forward. All packages work well. Japan's is on DoCoMo and China's is on China Unicom. Device needed about 10 to 15 minutes to initialize in each country. At first I thought it didn't work. Battery lasts about 12 hours on a full charge for me.The app can let you see the data usage but somehow cannot show device details like ssid name and password like it should. Not a big problem as the device's web console does the same function, although you wonder if this device is supported long term. I got the payback in one trip compared to renting devices from airports. Also saved precious time looking for the kiosks/offices in places that I haven't been after a long flight, and lining up to deal with paperwork and deposits. Didn't try the physical sim but glad that it is there. If the company goes under and it continues to work as a mifi, it is a bonus.

Great mobile WiFi, Stable signal, good coverage
This is my 3rd GlocalMe product and I love it. Although the packages are expensive (compared to similar competitive products) the speed and stability can not be beat. I gave it a 4 instead of 5 rating because part of the box appeared to be opened/part ripped but the main seal was intact. It looked like someone tried to open then decided to return it without opening the seal. I decided to open it and see if the unit was ok and so far it’s working. Product works as advertised and I’m happy with it.

Perfect for travellers and out-of-town family
A friend lent us her GlocalMe unit when we were travelling from out of country - what a lifesaver! When we got home, we bought our own. When we have family and friends visiting from other countries, it is nice to be able to give them the freedom of movement that comes from mobile internet. Likewise, when we travel, this makes it so much easier to stay connected (as Canadians, there really are no reasonably priced roaming data packages available ....).

Good device for travelling
Used this product while travelling in Spain and Italy. The data purchased online worked flawlessly. I also purchased a SIM card which I could not get to work using my Apple devices.
